THE WINWARD STORY
Winward Canada was founded by Hans Juffermans.
Previous to opening Winward Canada, Hans worked for the Winward USA operation as a buyer and product developer. His university training in horticulture, eye for detail and good business sense were a perfect fit for the imitation floral industry.
In December, 1988, Hans and his business partner, Patrick Tai, opened the Winward Canada office in Mississauga, Ontario. “Even though the business was very different back then,” states Juffermans, “our product has always been the best! In fact Winward is the only imitation floral company that owns their own flower factories in China.”
From a two-person office in 1988 – to the present day ever-expanding team of corporate employees and national sales team – Winward has experienced enviable success. The year 2000 saw the opening of Winward’s glamorous 10,000 square foot showroom, state-of-the-art warehouse and beautiful corporate head office situated at 6225 Danville Road in Mississauga.
For over two decades Canadian retailers have looked to Winward Canada for fashionable mid-to-high end imitation floral and unique seasonal and Christmas merchandise. Recently Winward has added the “Cobalt At Home” brand – an irresistible new collection of decorative home accents; and the fabulous “Jacqueline Kent” fashion jewellery collection.
“We are moving into exciting new product lines, but it all fits together … flowers are fashion, home décor is fashion and jewellery is fashion … so, really, we are in the fashion business!” exclaims Juffermans.
